I Believe - posted 2.13.20

What a person believes will shape, mold, and determine the character and substance of their life. To believe means to place one’s confidence, reliance, and trust in someone or something and be fully persuaded of its authenticity, truthfulness, authority, and legitimacy. Where one places their belief will be instrumental in influencing, conforming, and causing one to be transformed into the very nature and image of the subject of their belief. By being transformed one will also embody and exemplify the mannerisms, characteristics, and qualities of the subject of their belief and will determine their quality of life.

Deep within the core of an individual there is a need and desire to believe in something or someone bigger than themselves. The source of what one seeks to believe in needs to be founded on a firm foundation, established in truth, consistent, reliable, secure, and able to offer a quality life. There is only one entity or source that could possibly fulfill this kind of need and desire in one’s life and that would be a relationship with God the Father through His Son Jesus Christ. “Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me’” (John 14:6 NKJV). When God created mankind, He placed within the very core of the inner man this need and desire to believe and then shaped and framed life in such a manner where only one person would meet that need and desire. “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life” (John 3:16 NKJV).

Once an individual accepts Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord they are given a measure of faith (Romans 12:3), enabled and empowered to believe that God is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think according to the power that works in us (Ephesians 3:20), able to believe that all things are possible (Mark 9:23), able to receive God’s kingdom within and its power (Luke 17:21, 1 Corinthians 4:20), and will not perish but will have eternal life (John 3:15).

These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God. 1 John 5:13 NKJV

Provision Ahead - posted 2.6.20

When God created mankind, He made provision for each individual to have a life in Spirit full of love, joy, peace, goodness, and liberty regardless of external conditions or circumstances. For any individual to experience this provision of God, one must be born again making Jesus Christ their Savior and Lord. Once an individual is a believer of Jesus, God’s provision becomes available, accessible, and expansive because Spirit of the Lord now dwells within them, brings new life, and releases the provision of the kingdom of God.

Provision in one’s life oftentimes refers to the act or process of producing, receiving or providing something of substance which in today’s culture generally means economics, finances, and the supply of something. This type of provision is conditional, temporary, and dependent on the condition of culture and external forces.

When a believer contemplates their future and what lies ahead of them, one needs to understand that the substance, quality, and nature of their life depends more on the invisible, intangible, and spiritual provision of God opposed to any provision created or produced by the systems of the world or mankind. The provision of God is determined by a believer’s relationship and obedience to God, His Word and voice, which is governed by one’s life in Spirit. To look ahead for God’s provision and a life in Spirit, one is encouraged to have faith, trust, and confidence in the Word of God for it states that the promises of God are assured (2 Corinthians 1:20), the “Father knows the things you have need of before you ask Him” (Matthew 6:8 NKJV), and “God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:19 NKJV).

Since the provision of God is spiritual, a believer’s life in Spirit is key in identifying and discerning God’s provision and the ability to receive it. “But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned” (1 Corinthians 2:14 NKJV). The challenge is for the believer to see and recognize God’s provision in their life even though it appears different or contrary to what was expected. In understanding the provision of God, each believer must accept and reconcile that God is God, His ways are higher than your ways and His thoughts than your thoughts (Isaiah 55:9).

God’s provision in a believer’s life can come forth in a multitude and unexpected of ways whether one is on the mountain top or in a valley, during good times or hard times. When a believer has a preconceived or predetermined notion or mindset on how or what God’s provision should look like, the method used to fulfill it or the timing involved to accomplish it can cause one to miss the very provision God has provided. It is God’s will and desire for all believers to experience the enabling grace of His provision in every aspect on their life both in Spirit and in the natural.

By his divine power, God has given us everything we need for living a godly life. We have received all of this by coming to know him, the one who called us to himself by means of his marvelous glory and excellence. 2 Peter 1:3 NLT

The Name of Jesus - posted 1.30.20

Every name has a definitive meaning and can communicate something of value and significance which is why parents are so particular in the naming of their children hoping that the meaning of that name will affect their life. So, it was with God the Father in His instructions through an angel to Mary, the mother of Jesus. “Then the angel said to her, ‘Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bring forth a Son, and shall call His name JESUS’” (Luke 1:30-31 NKJV).

There is only one name that is above, surpasses, and outweighs every other name and that name is Jesus Christ, the Son of God. “Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father” (Philippians 2:9-11 NKJV). It is by the name of Jesus that believers of Jesus are empowered, authorized, commissioned, and instructed to bring forth God’s kingdom here on earth with authority to represent Him, to declare His Word, carry out His will, release His power, and usher in His presence.

The name of Jesus Christ is a central truth in the life of a believer because it is the gateway to salvation and eternal life for the word of God declares “whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved" (Romans 10:13 NKJV). It is by the name of Jesus that believers are baptized for the forgiveness of sins and receive the gift of Holy Spirit (Acts 2:38). It is by the name of Jesus that the Father sent the Helper, Holy Spirit, to believers to teach them in all things and bring them to remembrance of all that He said (John 14:26). It is by the name of Jesus that believers are granted the authority to cast out demons, speak with new tongues, and lay hands on the sick for healing (Mark 16:17-18). It is by the name of Jesus that believers can perform miracles (Acts 3:6) and gain favor to ask and receive for “whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask anything in My name, I will do it” (John 14:13-14 NKJV).

For believers the name of Jesus is not some mystical, magic word that is used to bring trivial or ungodly matters to fruition. One does not call on the name of Jesus in order to entertain, exploit, or elevate one’s spirituality or standing. When a believer uses the name of Jesus and a victorious result occurs, it is for the glory of God and the furtherance of His kingdom. Believers are encouraged to call on and have faith in the name of Jesus for hope, strength, provision, protection, and comfort. Also believers can through the name of Jesus reach out to others, be a blessing, and bring forth the kingdom of God.

And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him. Colossians 3:17 NKJV
